Can Russia change its image as a log-exporting country ?

The Russian authorities seek to step up the development of the forestry sector, which currently contributes only three percent to total GDP. Although the growth potential is huge, the forestry sector’s expansion is hindered by the inefficient utilization of forest resources, lack of infrastructure, the dysfunctional export structure, the wide-scale illegal logging and low levels of foreign investment.
