In January, lumber production in Canada decreased 12.3% y-o-y to 3811.5 thousand m3. This is 17.4% more than in December 2022, reported Statistics Canada.
Canadian sawmills shipped 3 682.6 thousand m3 of lumber in January, up 9.0% from December and down 4.5% from January 2022.
The average price for the lumber exported from Canada lost 6% in January 2023, compared to the previous month.
