Germany: High prices stable in latest wood auction from Pfälzer forest

Rheinland-Pfalz forest administration offered for sale 2,719 m3 of high-value oak logs on 03/05 December. Out of the total quantity, 2,701 m3 were sold to 27 sawmills, veneer producers and barrel manufacturers.
The average price for oak amounted to 654.75 €/m3, slightly under the highest value of 659 €/m3 from the previous year. Only 14 m3 did not receive any bids and 3.7 m3 could not be sold due to low bids. Fourty per cent of the sold volume was purchased by French buyers.
The highest bid was submitted for an oak from the forest administration of Kaiserslautern (3.482 €/m3). The most expensive log, offered by the forest administration of Johanniskreuz, was sold for 10.959 €.
