Germany: Spruce log price index stagnating to undecided

Alternativtext In April 2022, the German producer price indices for spruce only partially continued their almost uninterrupted upward trend since April 2021. On average, the index for logs rose by 1.1% compared to the previous month to a level of 100.8 points. B grades recorded a minus of 0.1% to 102.5 points, to which 3 m lengths contributed with -0.6% to 103.2 points. 4/5 m lengths fell by 0.6% to a level of 104.4 points.

C ranges increased by 0.2% to 93 points. 3 m lengths recorded an increase of 0.7% to 98.9 points. 4/5 m lengths fell by 0.7% to 96.5 points.

Alternativtext Spruce pulpwood rose in April by 6.3% to a value of 95.2 points. Pine pulpwood recorded a minus of 3.1% to 88.6 points. Douglas fir pulpwood increased by 3.1% to 66.1 points. The softwood pulpwood index increased by 2% to 90.2 points.

Year-on-year the spruce index increased by 46.3%. B grades recorded an increase of 38.3%, with 3 m lengths contributing 37.4% and 4/5 m lengths 36.3%. C grades gained an average of 41.6%, with 3m lengths up 37.9% and 4/5m lengths up 42.1%. And the index for spruce pulpwood was 98.8% higher than in the same month last year.
